Cartoon As a Tool For Social Change

One of our most innovative efforts, Comics for Social Change is an expression of people, by themselves, of their problems and issues relating to development through cartoons and comics. This initiative explores the immediate impact of the images and pictures. Promoted as an alternative form of communication, we realize that the potential of comics and cartoons have not been realized to its full extent.

We have discovered, through our first-hand experiences in workshops, that comics are an innovative, fun and thought-provoking activity. In fact, they have helped us as a tool of communication, especially in areas where illiteracy or language forms a barrier. They are easy to make and gain the attention of all age groups and serve as a very attractive campaign tool. Comics are a powerful tool of communication and change, the potential of which has not been realized to its full extent, in the field of development communication.
